Scholar, pastor, and biblical greek guru, Bill Mounce, has recently written some good advice for how to and how not to use biblical languages from the pulpit. Mounce reminds us that we can effectively show the differences in translations without giving our listeners opportunity to lose trust in God’s Word. Pastors, remember: “Do not correct the English Bible. Ever!”

I’ve tried but my eyes start to hurt from the rolling. I found myself one time in the hell that is a road trip with someone who only listens to gospel. Our rule was driver picks the music. I drove for 480 miles straight just so I wouldn’t have to listen to his music. I swear now if I ever hear gospel for more than 30 seconds I can not be responsible for the violence that will ensue.
