What is a Christian? Maybe in your culture, you have been led to believe that a Christian is someone who was born into a Christian family. Perhaps you think a Christian is someone who attends church. If you watch enough news, you might even believe that a Christian is someone who lives in a particular place or votes in a particular way.
If you are a new Christian, you are probably asking the question, “Now what?”
In recent months, God has been gracious to bring many people in our local church to new life in Jesus Christ. Our primary discipleship process at Malvern Hill is to get people involved in LifeGroups as soon as possible so they can grow in Christ in community. But, as people with little or no church background become Christians, we have realized the need to help them get started in their Christian journey as soon as possible.
Even though the Bible is the most important discipleship tool for any believer, new Christians who have never read the Bible are often intimidated by that big book and they need help. Often, they want to begin to grow in their new Christian life right away.
We could not find a tool to share with new believers that helped them to take their first steps on their first night or first week of being a Christian. So, we created one.
Raised to Life: New Believer’s Study Guide is a new resource published by our church with help from one of our former pastors. This book answers such questions as:
- What is a Christian?
- What is baptism?
- Do I need a church family?
- Do I need a small group?
- How can I tell my story?
Most importantly, this book gives a brief guide on how to read and study the Bible and it includes the entire book of Mark with some study helps to get a new believer started reading their first book of the Bible.
If you are a new Christian or if you know a new Christian, I pray this new book will be a helpful resource. This book is designed as tool a new believer can use on their own, but it could be even more impactful if used in small groups or for one-on-one discipleship.
You can purchase Raised to Life: New Believer’s Study Guide on Amazon in paperback or kindle version.
