God, we come to you asking that you have mercy and stop this pandemic and save lives. God we pray for Camden, South Carolina, we pray for our state, our nation, and our world. Father, we face an enemy that we cannot see and for which we are ill prepared to fight, but we acknowledge Isaiah 59:1-2:
Behold, your hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or your ear dull, that it cannot hear
Father, we pray for President Donald Trump and other government leaders—international, federal, state, and local—to have the wisdom to direct us in the best courses of action for prevention and care. We pray in the spirit of Romans 13:1–4:
Let us be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from you, God, and those that exist have been instituted by you. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. God, our leaders are servants of you.
Give our leaders wisdom and insight. Give them direction and discretion. Give us the courage to trust them, Father, and to do the things that are necessary to preserve lives at this time.
Scripture teaches us to number our days carefully so that we may develop wisdom in our hearts. Lord, give us wisdom in this moment of fear as the foundations of what we know are shaken, that others would realize how fragile life is and how real eternity is, and they would see their need to turn to God Psalm 90:12:
So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.
God we pray that through this, you might work spiritually to bring a great revival. We pray that as people begin to take stock of their lives, they would look to the God of heaven…to you, O God.
God protect our missionaries and their families around the globe, using this global crisis to advance your Good News to the whole world. For those who can stay, we pray that you would multiply their influence. For those who must leave, we pray that you would use even their departure for your good purposes we pray in accordance with your Great Commission in Mark 16:15:
God, you have commanded, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.
Father, we are confident then, that as Christians communicate faith in a time of fear that your gospel may find fertile soil to take root. We are also confident that even though hell should come against it, your church will stand secure and emerge victorious. Virus, famine, and disease cannot thwart the gospel of Jesus.
God, we pray for medical personnel. While the rest of the world is distancing themselves from this disease, medical personnel are running toward it. God we pray for doctors and nurses on the front lines. Protect them from this novel corona-virus and all of the other illnesses that spread across our world. Father, from HIV to Ebola, and seasonal flu, healthcare workers across the globe are risking their own health to try to improve the health of others. God we pray that you would protect them and give them courage in the days head.
Father, we pray this prayer in the powerful name of Jesus who can save from pestilence, plague and poverty. We pray in the name of Jesus who brings hope to the hurting, sight to the blind, hearing to the deaf, and the dead to life. We pray in the name of Jesus who has overcome death, hell, sin, and the grave. We pray in the name of Jesus who rescues men, women, boys, and girls from hell. We pray in the name that is above all names, Jesus Christ, Amen.
